So I was telling my wife about the new graphics cards, the performance, good price, and how they were very difficult to get right now. Said how I would love to have one and build a new computer, especially since we are editing videos on my poor old one now.
Her smartass said, “You can spend as much as you want, if you find the card you want in the next 5 min, and buy it.” [Reply]

After the prebuilt fail, I’m piecing together a build. Ordered this monitor today. It’s not HD, 1440. IP, 165hz, 1ms, decent contrast rate. It’s free sync and gsync-compatible which is what I need since I don’t know if I’m going to find an Nvidia or AMD card first. Good sale price.
Thoughts?

If you manage to snag a 3080/6800XT, your son is going to enjoy some butter smooth game play at like 150 fps, which is insane.
Thanks for the validation! Monitors are hard for me, there are so many factors.
I ordered the cpu, ram, mobo, and ps yesterday.
Now to find a frigging card. I put my name in the EVGA notification list. God knows how many people are on it in front of me. I like that they are making every effort to keep the bots and scalpers out of it this time around though. [Reply]
My build is old (i7-4770k) but, I believe, it to be a solid enough system to carry me through another 3-4 years of gaming once I pick up the 5600 XT I'm hunting. [Reply]

$1299 no taxes and free shipping for this seemed really great considering the issues I'll have finding a card for the next few months.

I hook it up to a monitor (this changes between my Dell ho-hum monitor capped at 75 hz @ 1080p and my spectacular LG 65" C9). The REAL reason I got it is for hooking it up to my Quest 2 for VR wirelessly via Virtual Desktop or cabled with the Oculus link. There are some titles on SteamVR that I cannot play on natively on the Quest 2 that I am excited about playing. I've got a 2018 Omen with the 1060 6G card that will play my VR games, but I'm looking to upgrade for more performance, especially in light of the fact the Quest 2 has a resolution of almost 2k per eye.
