See that is the thing- they basically keep making the same movie, so they have to make bigger and better stunts to try and reel people in. Next movie- Spidey will be lifting the Empire State Building.

The Keaton in a bird costume did it for me. In all fairness this movie can't be as bad as Birdman though- nothing is that bad.
Welllllll... lol.

But, yeah. The webbing, in canon, actually is extremely strong. IIRC, in Spider-Man the lady at the beginning said the spider that bites Peter's webbing has tensile strength proportional to that of those steel cables that hold up bridges.

Also, fuck you. Keaton in a bomber jacket was fucking awesome.

And people who say Spider-Man Homecoming is better than Spider-Man 2 are wrong. Spider-Man 2 had a villain that had development and a motive. In addition, it showed Harry Osborn's resentment for Spider-Man develop and set up Spider-Man 3 nicely until Sony forced Venom down our throats. The Vulture(even though I have zero complaints with Keaton acting) had absolutely no motive. The best part about Homecoming was the twist.

That being said, Holland was fine as Spider-Man.
I thought Vulture and his motivations were pretty well explained

He felt screwed over by the rich and powerful. He lost his big money contract post battle of New York.

I saw him as a low level mobster 'Tony Soprano' type who would do anything to protect his family and lifestyle.

Took my boy to see this today. It was a decent movie I have to admit. I really thought they'd do a total reset but they didn't. That was fine by me. Marissa Tomei was great too. Very funny ending.
I think Keaton stole the movie a lot of the time. You can just tell how he knows his shit. Basically, batman beat the shit outta Spider-Man quite a lot. Lol

Decent movie. My kid loved it.

Wow, you're kind of an idiot. You're arguing your dislike for a movie you haven't seen by quoting the unrealistic aspect of a SUPERHERO performing an action and you're NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT A FUCKING SCENE IN THE FILM. "God, I fucking hated 'Man Of Steel'! That part where Superman pushes the moon out of orbit? Totally unrealistic!" It wasn't a cruise ship, it was a relatively tiny fucking ferryboat. But thanks for crunching those numbers.

Personally, I liked that scene. His webbing held the ship in place for about 15 seconds. He was then notified that he was only 97% successful and he tried to hold it in place, (with webbing assistance). He was failing, however. Ironman had to bail his ass out.

It reminded me of an issue of Spider-Man a while back, (I think early to late 90's) where he had to hold a skyscraper up by basically doing the same thing. He didn't have the "stark suit" to help him, either. He failed there as well but was able to give people time to evacuate.

Evidently this is the worst second weekend earnings dropoff for a Marvel film.

From Box Office Mojo:

Finishing in second is Sony's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which dropped 61% in its second weekend with an estimated $45.2 million as its domestic cume know grows to over $208 million in its first ten days of release.

Internationally, Spider-Man delivered an estimated $72.3 million this weekend, bringing its overseas cume to $261 million and worldwide tally just shy of $470 million. Among new openings this weekend, the film debuted at #1 in France with an estimated $6 million and at #2 in Germany with an estimated $3.7 million. The film still has openings in Belgium, Spain, Japan and China upcoming.

So the film has made over $200M in 10 days and almost a half-billion worldwide. With no star power aside from Robert Downey Jr.'s short cameos.

I cry for them.

Really it saved the movie for me. I was having a hard time with all the teen dorky crap up to there. Ended up being a damn good film.
