Media Center>The Greatest Live Albums ever recorded. Who ya got?
scho63 05:09 AM 04-23-2020
I realize that bands like the Beatles had no real "live" albums and it started around the late 70's - early 80's.

So who has the greatest LIVE albums?

I'll start with the (3) that made the most impact on me:

1. Kiss ALIVE!
2. Frampton Comes Alive!
3. Ted Nugent Double Live Gonzo!

Maybe it was the "exclamation points" that did it for me! :-)

What live stuff rocked your world? :-)

EDIT: Bootlegs prior to real LIVE albums don't count. Having someone steal Hendrix before he ever made his own live album doesn't count.

I think I might have been at that Kansas concert. They announced at the beginning of the concert that they were recording it for this album.

Oh shit. It’s Deadhead talk isn’t it? Great clue. I had a couple buddies who were heads back in the 80s. “Dude we have to hit the Vegas shows. I heard they were busting out Darkstar.”
Rather stick needles in my eye than be stuck at a jam band eternity event.
No offense LA Chief.

The first two answers were correct. Hell Freezes Over and Nirvana Unplugged. Nothing else even comes close.

Hell Freezes Over came out when I was five or six years old. My dad was a die hard fan, so naturally he exposed me to it. I was hooked. Every weekend when I went to stay at his house my mom would let me pick two VCR tapes from blockbuster on the way, and for two straight years one of the tapes was always Hell Freezes Over. I even had a gray sweater I would wear while watching it to match Henley. Looking back, I don't understand why they didn't just buy me the tape. Two years worth of renting the damn thing had to be a hundred times what a copy would have cost.

They have two, this one has more of the early stuff.

The second one, I think this is their most beatiful song, "Still in Love with You".
