Media Center>Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8
keg in kc 02:23 PM 05-24-2017
About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

a new scale disease takes place that was seen in podrick where everyone can sing and the last 15 minute is an epic broadway show ending song.

I'm just disappointed that it doesn't look like I'll get to see Arya wearing Cersei's face.

And we get the Blazing Saddles ending. Classy, entertaining, I love it.

I just rewatched season 1 and 2. I am sad about what happened to the writing of this show. :-)

No idea why they had to shorten the season. Why not add a few more episodes!

I wonder if they would have if they had known how many people were going to tune in to watch the final season (How could they have not, though)?

They just weren't given enough time to send this off properly.

I could swear I read that they were offered more episodes by HBO, 8 maybe, instead of 6, but they declined.

I think D&D are burned out.

I can't imagine working on one project this long.

Then again I've never been able to find any one thing I actually enjoy doing.

There are a few rumors out there that HBO slashed budget this season due to the upcoming merger with Comcast and that there was a lot of drama behind the scenes. A few writers/commentators for the show have given life to the theory.

The first four episodes could have easily been spread over 10. Remember back in season 1 when it took a full episode to get from Winterfell to King's Landing? Teleportation has forever changed the seven kingdoms.

Perfect illustration. The show may not hit a sweet spot of the perfect number of seasons like breaking bad did. But it's close. For the purists to get their way it might take a decade more for this thing to wrap up. It does take dedication to wrap things up. I actually think the pacing is solid considering how many damn storylines they have to clean up to get to the end in a short time. It isn't rushed like lost. Isn't a way too long crawl to the finish like How I met your mother. I feel confident that the end will be resolved with even a little time left over to clean up loose ends. Even the biggest critics of the showrunners have to admit that's quite a feat.

The pacing has been horrible. Not rushed?!

The Night King is still trying to figure out what happened. He always thought he was important, too.

This entire season has been abrupt endings. There's been no grace - or sense - to any of it. The saving grace is that the acting has been phenomenal, the soundtrack has been amazing and aside from unfinished cgi it's still the best looking show on TV. Except for that episode a lot of people couldn't see.

It should have been two more seasons. One to kill the NK. One to deal with Cersei.
