I will put this version of Knocking on Heavens door up there with any of them. Zevon did this with just months left to live with terminal lung cancer he could barly breath while recording his last Album The Wind. David Lindley's peddle steel guitar is simply haunting.

Like this cover of Cortez the Killer with Jason Isbell and Dawes. Also the Dawes drummer is always good for some solid drummer face.

Dawes covers Blake Mills. Does Dawes ever do a bad cover? seems always as good or better.

Yeah they over killed it. Sad that we cant hear Linda anymore she had some pipes before the Parkinsons. She was really getting into Spanish and Mexican tunes before the disease hit. Warrens version was better more edgy but Im a huge Zevon fanatic.

Sadler Vaden does Tom Petty proud at about 4:00 he takes a back seat to Jason Isbell in the 400 Unit but he's the guitar God.

Sadler nails Duane Allman's perfect tone at 3:33 and 8:44 on the Les Paul and Isbell aint bad on the 335.

There is no way you can’t like this song a little more than the original. Well I can’t anyway. My heart is in Jamaica.
