Nzoner's Game Room>How does our Defense personnel adjust to stop Henry?
chiefzilla1501 02:09 PM 01-14-2020
What adjustments do we make to stop Henry? Even with a healthy Chris jones, we would want a heavier dose of Saunders, Pennel, and suggs anyway, right? Probably see Ragland in on a lot more snaps?

Titans should care unless you're saying they aren't emotionally vested in the game. That's probably a good idea, since no one likes getting their hopes squashed. Itll be easier for them to focus on next year.

Or just do whatever the Pats did, now that I think about it. Pats held the Titans to just 14 points, 2 TDs, no offensive points in the second. We do that and just score on 4 of our first 6 drives and it's game over.

You are though.

Why you're here.

You prolly think it's clever and witty and original.

Pretty sure Derrick and Ryan aren't being talked about as the new face of the NFL.

You'll underestimate this kid, and then you'll either eat crow, or double down on stupidity...like many, many fools before you.

You still have to stop Henry in the first half gents. Say what you want about "jumping out to a big lead," but you can't do that sitting on the sidelines watching Henry grind it away on you for a TD. They didn't get the win versus us the first time "just because" the Chiefs turned the ball over once and missed a field goal. They were able to keep the game close to the end by doing exactly what we need to stop this time around.

Tannehill may also be an "NFL QB" but he's surely not a great one. If you put the game on his shoulders, chances are he's not going to cut it and especially going point-for-point against the Chiefs' offense. He's very much Alex Smith reincarnate. If you keep things close and you support him with a run game, he's got enough to beat you with a solid play action and short passing game. If he gets into a position where he has to carry the team and go toe-to-toe with a high-powered offense coming from behind, chances are he's going to shit down his leg.

"All-time"? I'm 100% certain that if I look up the 4th greatest NFL passer of all time, I'[m not going to find Tannehill before Favre or Aaron Rodgers. Dan Marino . . .

Don't do anything overly special... Try to keep Henry from the big big run and let him get his 135-150 yards and get 4 to 6 stops in the game. This offense didn't have Fisher, the Doctor at all and Schwartz and Rankin, who was balling at the time, for over a half... Also, Mahomes was playing on one leg in is first game back. We were still beat up on defense as well... We are fairly healthy, Chris Jones is good against the run, but not great, so it's not as important he plays than if we were playing a throwing offense. We don't need to over think it... We will score 35+ and their best game with no Defensive or ST TD's will be -30....

They were talking tonight about how good the OL is of the Titans and many times Henry doesn't get hit until the 2nd level so...

...how about switching it up some? Swap some of the LBers w/the DL. Or put an extra DL just behind the line. It's crazy stupid I know but whatevs.. I don't know how to stop that train.

No, we really don't. We can't let him run for a big play. But we don't necessarily have ot stop Henry to win. The Pats allowed him to run for 182 yards and a TD, and if not for a bad INT, the Patsies could've won that game.

Let me repeat that:

Derrick Henry ran for 182 yards on the Patriots and the TEN offense only produced 2 TDs for the whole game.

We have to stop Tannehill. If we can keep him from producing a score, it doesn't really matter if Henry runs for 180 yards and a TD or two.

And in spite of the Titans toadies on here, Tannehill is not a great QB. He's right about average. He's not going to put the Titans on his shoulders and manufacture two scoring drives at the end of the game. That's simply not who he is.

They don't care.

They are professionals athletes just surviving.

If you as a watcher think they don't care..... I'd like some of your drugs

They care. They just don't care about who they play next.

The weird thing is the Ravens had over 500 yards last week and only scored 12 points.

The Titans Red Zone D is 31st IIRC. Texans were 32nd.

Colquitt is going to be a huge factor. Titans have only scored 3 times this post season starting on their side of the field.

Receivers dropping balls. Not converting 4th downs. And QB not able to throw outside the hashmarks.

Hopefully STs has learned to change up its snap counts. :-)

Our run D is much improved since we played the Titans last. We just held Hyde to to 44 yards and less than 3.5 yards per. Stopping Baby Zilla will be tough but keeping us from scoring over 30 points will be tough too. If we score 30 points plus we win.
