It's been the same way with the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
I was a season ticket holder from 2005-2010 and shared seats with a few of my best friends. Dodgers games were on KCAL 9, a local affiliate or the local Fox affiliate. I saw every single game.
Since 2011, their rights have been owned by Time-Warner/Spectrum and since I've had Direct TV for the Sunday ticket, the only time I've been able to watch the Dodgers is during the playoffs. I don't even know who or what I'm watching so I just don't even care anymore.
Last month, I switched from Direct TV to Spectrum Choice and guess what? They do not offer SportsNetLA, their in-house network that produces Dodgers and Lakers games, so I can't watch Dodgers OR Lakers games! What makes this even dumber that I was able to the Lakers with Direct TV because Spectrum's revenues plummeted since every game was blacked out, so they allowed Direct TV to broadcast them as well.
But no luck with Spectrum Choice.
I don't know what the heads of these companies are thinking but from my POV, they're dumb as fuck. Why in the world would you blackout locals from their own team, day after day and night after night?
