Flyers beat the Wings in OT tonight for 8th win in 9 games. Really turned things around since losing 10 in a row back in December.

I personally don't think that should have been interference, and I don't think this should have been either.

But if you're gonna call the one against the Avs, you have to call the one against the Leafs too.

Hadn't noticed Matthews actually stick lift Bernier... I'd say if Bernier turned to find the puck, maybe that would be goalie interference since his stick was tied up, but it didn't seem like he really knew where it was. It wasn't interference on the initial bounce

Not really seeing how Nieto prevents Grubauer from making that save, but it's not the best angle... not sure if there was skate to skate contact, but from that angle, Grubauer went to his right on his own and I don't see any contact when he goes for the save. :-)

Agreed. I used to be a big fan of reviews, but it's gotten crazy. I liked your idea in the other thread about full speed replays... it would be a good way to force the mentality that a call shouldn't be reversed unless you're really sure.

And every sport should control it from the booth, it should take seconds... as long as it takes for people at home to see 5 replays from just as many angles. That's perhaps the most mind boggling part.

Yeah, that's pretty ticky tack.

100% agree.

Well, this happened tonight... Called a good goal after review by the same ref as the Colorado game. The Leafs had one called off for goaltender interference earlier in the game on a far less egregious play.
It seems that goaltender interference is becoming what pass interference is for the NFL.

Yeah goaltender interference is becoming stupid. I hate to say it, but it might eliminate the problem all together if they went back to the Goaltender crease rule. That way the goaltender has his space and the players have theirs and it's clear cut whos space is whos.

I hated the crease rule though. So many goals called back for random feet being in the crease.

For the goal that was called back for the Leafs, the goalie was partially out of the crease and got run into. It didn't look as though it made a difference as to whether the goalie could make the save. My understanding of the definition of goaltender interference is that "a player cannot impede a goaltender's ability to do their job".

The crease rule was a disaster for the NHL especially since they ignored the rule for the '99 Stanley Cup winning goal. Brett Hull in the crease... Anyone old enough to remember that addition to Buffalo's legacy of pro sports futility?

And the Blackhawks are the NHL's Tom Brady. And the Pens are the NHL Rapelesberger. But yes, GI is becoming a huge problem in the NHL.

But I admit to being biased. None of my players ever commit GI, but every puck put past my son has to be GI... At least I'm honest, right? Ha! :-)

All joking aside, since we don't have replay, when the line that get scored on really thinks there was GI, they make sure they have the number of the offender and he doesn't get near the net again. Nothing illegal, but he's a marked man to say the least.
