I've seen extensive tests on these things. There's a reason that Apple has a disclaimer on their watch that says it's for fitness purposes only.

They can be very accurate but they're not very consistent.

Just FYI, Apple stays away from a lot of things for legal reasons. Their devices are actually FIPS compliant but they will not state it because they don't want to deal with any potential lawsuits, etc.

Just sayin....

I will feel fine for awhile. Go to kitchen to get food or drink and then be completely exhausted.

I haven't read through all of that paper yet, but I know University of Texas (I mentioned earlier today) was convinced a mutation to the spike protein was responsible for greater transmission. Which anecdotally makes sense.

The UT article is linked at the beginning of that press release.

One of the handling editors of that paper is Raoult, whose own HCQ papers have been roundly debunked. Zelenko is a noted quack

In contrast, NEJM just published the results of a randomized trial of HCQ for postexposure prophylaxis from PCR-confirmed-positive contacts and found no benefit.

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2021801

Here are results of a double-blinded RCT for post-exposure prophylaxis using HCQ. Again, no benefit:

The IDSA says there is no use for HCQ in the treatment of COVID-19 hospitalized patients:

The guideline panel recommends against the use of either HCQ alone or in combination with AZ in the hospital setting as higher certainty benefits (e.g., mortality reduction) are now highly unlikely even if additional high quality RCTs would become available.

These are much, much larger datasets and they weren't organized by a general practitioner with no background in infectious disease who made claims that the pandemic response in his village was an attempt to kill Jews.

on my way home from work yesterday I thought about going to the bar that my high school friends drink at when they come home for thanksgiving. It was fucking packed. I didn't go in because it dawned on me that covid is still a thing.

The Pfizer release prompted Russia to release early phase 3 results for Sputnik showing 92% effective. It was from a really small sample size though.

China has a bunch of vaccines. None have finished phase 3 or released early data yet. At least 2 have emergency use already. They have been vaccinating people in certain jobs for months.
