I am not getting my hope up, though.

Because there's nothing to lose for him to attack - who cares if you lose a preseason game? In a regular season game, attacking means a bigger chance of making a mistake that could lose a game. I don't think at this point you'll ever beat that mentality out of him.
I don't remember Alex looking this good in any preseason with the Chiefs... He looks to have really improved his down the field passing and hopefully it carries on into the regular season.
I don't think he will change his style completely and he shouldn't. It's a little late in the game for that. But he is capable of taking more shots down the field. [Reply]
What Alex "needs", is to realize that his contribution to KC has reached its peak, that he has been MORE than fairly compensated for said contribution, and that its time to hop on the ol' 747 with the fam and head out to the next dumpster fire, where his pedestrian style of play will make him loved yet again by the weakest and most uninformed minds that his new franchise has to offer.
Thank you,
Goodnight to the shitty/Smitty era,

I don't care if he's the best, from what I've seen Mahomes is close enough to let his era begin. We know what we have in Alex, and without getting to deep into that history I think we have to let Mahomes take snaps with the 1s to get through the learning process. And watching from the sideline and taking some reps with the 1s in a practice setting isn't going to help close that gap. [Reply]

At this stage you have to wonder if he hasn't shown it yet will he ever?
Huggy says, "let me lay it out so you can play it out; not happening. Nope, not happening. Oh he'll take a few swings when we start out, but the first time he gets that two TD lead, back to the Method we go. If the game is tight and the defense a'ight; back to the Method we go. If it looks like a loss or an OT coin toss; back to the Method we go."
The Method of course being "play not to lose", a fine Chiefs institution championed by Herm Edwards and now Alex Smith.

As much as I would love to do otherwise, I'm still a believer in the redshirt for this season. That said, I'm thrilled that he has taken the #2 spot and I would absolutely feel fine as wine if he were to take over later in the season should Shitty be...unable to perform. [Reply]

What makes you an expert? Because you post on chiefsplanet?
Let Reid make these decisions. He knows what he is doing. He isn't some rookie HC [Reply]

People on CP actually think they know things. Reid is a top 5 coach in the NFL. Trust him in whatever decision he makes besides clock management [Reply]

So because you post on chiefsplanet, you now know how to manage a game clock. Leave that up to the top 5 coach. He's a professional.... [Reply]

So you call someone out for criticizing Reid only to finish the post by criticizing Reid. That's the type of contradiction that makes you a true CP member at only 15 years old.
Also, you are dead on correct about the clock management. [Reply]

I'm not 15. I'm 22. Let's get that straight [Reply]

Ouch. How about it's my opinion and Andy get to make the call no matter what. But that's the same Andy we know has at least a few issues with decision making in the past. [Reply]
