NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

A lot of beer nerds poke fun at them, but they really are some of my favorite beers. Drank a couple Southern Tier Cinnamon Rolls this weekend, brought their Somoa This to the AFCCG tailgate... :-)

Best beer I've had in a long time was Sticky Mittens from Prairie Artisan.

It is a big stout (14% I think) aged on maple candied pecans and cinnamon in a whiskey barrel.

I believe I brought some Abyss to the tailgate. It was something like that.

Portillo's chocolate cake stout. That cake gives Diabeetus the beetus...and gout.

Nice, I'll have to look for it.

Yes, it was... and thank you for sharing with us. :-)

It went really well with double-fisting the Somoa This, they complimented each other very well.

I really think you should just add a good amount of alcohol to your pastries, cookies and candy. :-)

They only had it on tap at the brewery, they didn't bottle any.

:-) that was 1 of 2 different Portillo's chocolate cake stouts released here last year. It's easy to see why some point and laugh, but when they're good, I really enjoy them. I'd consider giving up a pinky toe for a Modern Times Fellowship of Xul sixtel.

Prairie did bottle some Double Dunk which is made with Oreos. I had it on tap and it was damn tasty as well. Almost impossible to find though.

Double Dunk was great. Prairie is getting pretty skilled with the sweeter stouts.
