Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

I can understand it going up after the pandemic-when oil was at -21 a barrel.

But this shit is ridiculous. It will cost us at least 2x as much in gas to drive to Philly and back as it did in August of 2021.

The shop I take my cars to has been in the car/gas business for 70 years. The boss said he makes less money now on gas than he did when it was 2 dollars. and started selling gas at 29 cents.

First part.

Paid 4.999 today, the stations seem reluctant to break that number 5.

It’s inevitable at this point.

It was still $4.39 yesterday here. I haven't been to town today. Sure is a great time to be daily driving a 3/4 ton 4wd Chevy with a 6.0. :-)

It was $3.70 when we left Oklahoma for Hawaii. Got back a week later and it was 4.37. Wife’s car takes premium and it’s $5.15. Hawaii was $5.45.

Finally over 5 bucks here, saw $5.03 on the marquee of the gas station closest to the house on the way home. Oh goodie.

Gas seems to leveled off for a bit at a wonderfully reasonable price of $4.59

Just in case anyone is curious filling up a 1977 Chevy K20 sucks butthole at a fuel sipping 12 mpg.

:-)... If their gross profits have nearly doubled in dollars, which the article claims, at the same time oil prices have doubled, this mean their ROE/ROI is about the same, which, as any business understands, is a necessity to staying viable. However, rubes like you get to say "oil companies are killing it..." as you scream at the sky.
