Nothin' like a punk rock super group getting together to record a cover of a country song. I present Eastbound and Down as performed by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes,

Oh, and this thread belongs in D.C because white people and confederate flags and such.

Both of which are politically incendiary. Especially white people.

Just the mere color of a white person's skin is enough to cause hurt feelings and riots.

So i approve of this thread being in D.C.

All good things. And if ya like punk then check these links. One is more hard rock but the vid and song kick ass,

Update, I couldn't find the cover of REM by the JCCC. But anyone that makes fun of Fugazi and does a faster version of It's the End of the World as we know it, is bad ass

HCF and BEP were having a contest to see who could post the most unpolitical threads. I staked my claim on third place with a bunch of music links for solid covers. I figured with the crowd of all ages trying to go back through the history of covers would help to tie generations together musical tastes. And we need breaks with how heated things get up in here at times

I don't know how to embed from Vimeo so I'll post this like this...Jerry Jeff Walker has been a legendary songwriter and performer for many many years. This is a great song...for this time of the year, special meaning...MMM posted this on FB

My cowboy hat is off to Jerry Jeff Walker. Regardless of his titanic victorious bout against throat cancer, he’s delivering a Kon˝mstill writing and recording songs. He sent me his new song over Thanksgiving weekend ! There is no doubt that friends are the main thing to be thankful for. So here’s a video of his “Friends” as a Thanksgiving gift to everyone who cares about one of the founders of the Texas Music scene in the 1970s. Jerry was the first artist to say “Yes” when I asked folks to sing on the “Austinology - Alleys of Austin” album.

Thanks for sharing. Watched Smokey and the Bandit with my kids recently, and it is a great flick. They really enjoyed it. I'd forgotten just how horrifically bad the second movie really is, as we tried watching it right after.

Thanks. Awesome. It's a shame that he quit doing drugs. I think that he even became a Scientologist
