His 2006 season was phenomenal to watch. He started out terrible, went to Omaha in May, came back in June, and became the hottest 3rd baseman in baseball.

The Royals are getting back Mike Montgomery in the deal for Martin Maldonado, as @Feinsand said. A likely candidate to be stretched out and join the rotation. Still has a couple years of club control.
