Am I the only one who would have preferred we just let them in once it was 1st and Goal from the 1? I trust Mahomes to drive down for the win a hell of a lot more than I trust our defense to get 4 stops in a row.
I'm sure a coach would get destroyed if they did it and made it obvious, but it sure feels like Mahomes changes the equation there. [Reply]

I would absolutely have let them score to ensure Mahomes/offense has enough time to tie or win.
Who gives a shit about the defense’s psyche... they put themselves in that situation with their garbage play. [Reply]

I would have been fine with Spags just going ultra goddamn aggressive to maybe create a big negative play, which would stop them as long as we used the timeouts. The Raiders can probably still score, but it's not like we told the defense to let them in.
Yeah, this seems to be the right approach.
I would have been more comfortable with more time on the clock for the last drive. Yes, we scored in under a minute, but the pass to Kelce doesn't happen that way if it is the last play of the game and Raiders could ignore underneath targets and the threat of Mahomes running. That was about as close as I would want to cut it. [Reply]
Yeah to the point I was actually concerned when they moved the ball back after the false start :-). I was like damn, that just allows them to let some more time off before they score if they please [Reply]
Someone actually asked him about this in the postgame, and he actually said that there's a time and a place for that, but we weren't to that point.
We did have another time out after all, so in theory even if they'd scored with 4 runs, we still would have gotten the ball with around 1:30 left (though with zero timeouts). I can buy that we weren't QUITE to the point that we had to resort to something drastic. [Reply]

I can't recall the game, but it happened several years ago (Green Bay may be?) [Reply]

The Raiders kind of helped us as well. I was surprised that Chucky didn't try to at least run it one more time to force KC to take up some timeouts. And when they did score, I said "They left too much time on the clock." [Reply]
