So now that a season is under our belt with Mahomes and he passed for 318/game, total 5097 , do you guys think he can beat Mannings record of 5477? He would need to throw for 24 more yards per game than last year to tie that.
That's one pass play from Mahomes per game and our defense is going to give him two more possessions per game this year IMO.

It is worth noting that Mahomes had no more 300+ yard games after the 12/9/19 game against the Ravens.
So it would be a "major letdown" if he doesn't have 50 TDs, a 4:1 TD/INT ratio, and 5,000 yards? I mean, really? Any year he doesn't post running-away-with-it MVP numbers is a "major letdown"?
I suspect you're in for at least a few major letdowns over the next decade. Nobody is likely to perform at that level indefinitely. [Reply]
The better question is will Mahomes have to pass for 350 / game this year? If we have a mid-range D we will be unstoppable and Mahomes won't have to win a shootout every damn week. [Reply]

Especially not with a defense that can get off the field on third down so he doesn't have to stay ahead of the opposing offense or worse play catch up all game long. [Reply]

Kid is still getting better and FAR from his prime, so yeah, anything less than what he put up last year is a major let down. [Reply]
I don't agree with all the talk that he won't need to put up so many points this year with an improved defense. I think his mentality is to score every possession and it's not going to be by handing the ball off.

Wowza. What do you think a "prime" season would be then? [Reply]

55/5500
I agree with that to a degree. I think he's looking to hit a TD on every play, run or pass, but I think he also has a rather advanced football IQ and can play situational ball if he has to. You don't go nearly 5-1 in TD/INT ratio if you're out there just flinging it around with your hair on fire. [Reply]
