Covid test and antibody test both came back negative. Pneumonia feels like it’s getting beat down by the antibiotics and albuterol filled nebulizer. Be a bad time to catch the Rona, figured I’d catch the worse respiratory illness of my life mid respiratory pandemic. Let’s Rock.

I just don't see an easy way of actually doing it. Nursing homes aren't designed to be clean rooms, and you can't easily prevent staff from going out into the world, catching it, and then bringing it in.

I suppose I don't fully know what nursing homes have been doing, but my understanding was that most were at least restricting access. I'm just not convinced there's a ton more that they could do that would really be effective.

It's a disease that is like interest.....1% is a number that usually makes people go oh that ain't shit but when it's 1% of a billion dollars it's a big ass number.

Mers killed people at a higher rate, just not nearly as many people contracted it.

It's like this, having 1% of a billion dollars nets you more than 25% of 1000 dollars.

Yes, I know. Ebola has a CFR of 70%. SARS v1.0 was 10%

Obviously we're all just guessing a bit still, but given all the asymptomatic cases, I'm guessing 0.5% is in the ballpark. Maybe even a bit lower if the theory that there are a TON of asymptomatic cases proves to be true.

I saw an owner of a nursing home describe how he was able to keep the virus out and that was himself and all his staff have been quarantined in campers parked outside the nursing home for 90 days so far I think.

That is about the only way.

At one of the larger meat packing outbreaks some workers lived with nursing home workers so you can predict how that ended.

Workers live in hotels and are well compensated for it, isolated etc. There were things you could do.

But fuck, I saw in Wisconsin like 80% of their deaths are from nursing homes. We've had 7 or 8 deaths in our country from it. All from 2 homes.
