Yep, "Cheat Harder" in their new 2019 locker-room slogan.

Did you know Horseface restructured his already rigged cap hit in 1997...it essentially pushed even more of his contract payout to 1999 & 2000 when he knew he would be retired. He did this so they could afford to sign Neil Smith.

30% of his record contract in 1996 was paid after he wasn't even on the roster. They essentially transferred Smith's contract $$ to Elway after he retired. That roster was built on future cap debt.

Horseface is no champion....just a used car salesman with a strong arm.

Donko fans just plug their ears when you bring up the fact the were fined $1 million and docked draft picks....to them, their SBs are perfectly legit.

So, is Elway the only player in the league to work a contract like that with his team?

Not the same but Brady is doing it too. Just with a business to funnel money into.

It is highly irregular that a healthy retire is still paid as if on the roster. Once retired, your contract is void. I'm pretty sure it's not allowed.

If Keesum retired after this season....his total signing bonus accelerates against the cap. Donks can go after him to recoup what ever amount of the 2019 portion that was guaranteed and it would get erased from the cap hit.

Lions came after Berry Sanders because of this...

Horseface waltzed out getting paid for 2 seasons when he wasn't even on the team. It was designed this way so the Donks could push as much money as immediately needed to Horaeface's future years...he knew when he was going to retire. It was a sham..

Interesting. So, dead money doesn't sit on a team's cap for players that are no longer with the team, whether by retirement or trade, etc?

Only the guaranteed portion of a contract...you if have a 5 year, $30 million guaranteed at signing deal. It would depend on how it's spread out over the 5 years with roster bonuses, salary and restructures...you could keep pushing the hit back and guaranteeing more base (non guaranteed) salary and only be on the hook for $6 mill a year until the final two years...kind of why Miller is counting $25 million the next two seasons.

If you are Horseface and the team lets you keep it...you can back load a contract knowing, in advance, you are going to retire...and the teams eats the hit for 2 years once you are finished.

All I want is the Broncos to not get Will Grier bc he looks like a damn good caliber QB prospect who isn’t limited.

Early in the 3rd quarter, Keesum is 9/17 for 56 yards and 2 picks.
