Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>QB Impressions
Direckshun 12:25 AM 01-03-2017
First glances at several QBs we're going to give a shit about over the next four months. Feel free to set me straight.

DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame
6'4", 230 lbs
26-9 TD-INT, 59%, 2925 passing yards

I get a Cutlerian vibe from this guy. Seems to be built like a franchise QB. Powerful arm, some beautiful passes, perfect bodytype. But he is lacking an "it" factor, is he not? He's not a world-beating, overcome-the-odds, particularly spiriting QB. Looks like he could have an okay career in the NFL in which he wins nothing of consequence.

Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina
6'3", 220 lbs
30-6 TD-INT, 69%, 3748 passing yards

Well if there was one Andy Reid QB in this entire draft, it's Trubisky, isn't it? Super accurate, doesn't take too many risks with the ball, is very mentally tough and very athletic. He's a slam dunk for the Chiefs to trade up for, if he lasts to the 20s, but in a QB-starved NFL with at least 6 new head coaches looking for their QB, there's no chance he lasts to us.

Per @AlbertBreer, Sam Darnold will want to wait and see who has the top pick or two in the NFL Draft. If it's Browns, he could stay at USC.

Didn't the Browns address this in the 2017 draft?

They tried to trade for McCarron, so no...

He'd be a fool not to see who might be drafting him.

I mean, Sam Darnold probably isn't going to declare. And with the possible exception of Rosen and Lamar Jackson, all of the projected QBs to go in the first 3 rounds have regressed. But so what? Deep class of QBs!
And it has further come to light precisely how much of a douche Rosen is.

Ups Smith's value if the team wants to trade him in 2018.

For sitting out with a concussion?

Smith landing in Jax could make the Jags a pretty scary team.

DJLN and I talked about it in the lounge but I think in terms of trading smith, the ideal situation is if cousins leaves Washington. He'd be a good fit there with Gruden as a bridge.

I'd have to think Jacksonville and Cleveland are the two most likely trade spots. Jacksonville needs a vet QB to win now with that defense and Cleveland can't seem to draft a QB and need to become competitive - plus they have a slew of picks with extra 1, 2-2's, 3, 4, 5, 6....

I've often said he'd make a good Brown.

Vikings are the best place IMO. They only need a QB.

We're so lucky they didn't wait for '18 to get Alex's replacement

Indeed. I've never been one for the "wait until 18" or whatever year you choose; betting on crop yield is absurd in the face known quantity.
If talent that you believe in is there, step up and take it.

The only drawback about QB1 or death is that you will from time to time get the Geno's and Barkley's. You'll also never miss the Lucks' and Mahomes. :-)
