DJ 1942 is an interesting one. It's not very highly regarded by purists, because it uses a vanilla additive, but it's incredibly delicious. I keep a bottle around, and also use it quite often as a gateway to sipping tequilas, to get people over the idea that tequila is only for shooting. The price of 1942 will usually allow me to then lead them to some other options over time, once their mind is open to the idea of sippers. [Reply]
1942 has been mentioned but Regular Don Julio Reposado is good. Corazon makes a nice Reposado IMO. Corallejo is another. Up to a point more expensive is better when it comes to tequila. [Reply]
Tequila Reposado Corralejo is my everyday choice for my low carb 'rita's unless I buy the Costco brand which is used mix 'Rita's. I loved "Pro Bar" that is made in KC. It's not sold here and I'm too cheap to pay their prices and their shipping.
for sipping
I have had the chance to drink a few $$$ bottles but IMHO they are not worth it. I drink a lot of DJ when I am in St Louis but when it's my money the $$ is going for a great bourbon. Or two [Reply]
I rarely do a straight tequila since I tend to want to put a lampshade on my head after. My daughter introduced me to Casamigos and I'll do one of those on occasion. Most of the other stuff gives me a headache. [Reply]
for everyday sippers, I stay off the top shelf. My go to lately has been 1800 reposado. Although on occasion will splurge for the Anejo. Ive even been known to grab a liter of Jose Cuervo just for the price.
Been partial to Sauza Tres Generaciones Anejo as well. Back in the day, I was even into Cabo Wabo...not the best stuff, but was cool when Sammy Hagar owned it.
I avoid the silver/blanco's...too sterile no flavor. I mean, if you're gonna sip, you want some flavor.
FYI, asking for 100% agave tequila is redundant. To be tequila, it must be 100% blue agave or it's not tequila [Reply]

Say what now? Blancos are delicious, just a different flavor - you're getting agave without the barrel influence. Fortaleza Still Strength blanco is one of my favorite sippers. [Reply]
