Does anyone remember any of those early articles/blogs from Westerners describing the quarantine measures China implemented to keep this at bay? Every single individual was literally color coded and locked away. Nobody could go anywhere. It was brutal and brutally effective.

THIS IS ALL PURE CONJECTURE, but I personally believe that's what happened.
The Wuhan lab isn't really a Chinese lab though, its an international research lab funded and run by many countries. Yea it likely escaped from there accidentally but not really because of "China" specifically.

China hiding it as much as they did is on them but its likely a result of the lab and that specific scientific community not wanting people to know that's where it came from because if that was known to be fact, well there goes your research funding likely for good. Bye bye Wuhan lab. The same reason most virologist keep saying its not man made. $$$$ International $$$.

$$$ is the answer to most mysteries.

Yes and therefore, I'm unwilling to risk my children's lives because some scientist posted a chart that may be completely invalidated tomorrow, next week, next month or 3 months from now.

I don't know of a single parent that isn't happy that our district has decided to continue with online learning until returning to school has been deemed completely safe.

CDC Director Robert Redfield and other agency officials conclude in a JAMA editorial: "At this critical juncture when COVID-19 is resurging, broad adoption of cloth face coverings is a civic duty, a small sacrifice reliant on a highly effective low-tech solution that can help turn the tide favorably in national and global efforts against COVID-19."

I'm guessing emergency use for at least one of the leading vaccines is approved in October. It won't be enough to vaccinate everyone that wants it, but it'll be enough to cover a lot of the front line people and some of those at most risk of severe disease.

I been working home since March. With an occasional 1 day in each month to go to the office to grab supplies, (which isn't an issue because nobody's there anyways or even if someone is there, spacing isn't an issue), I'm still working from home in July.

I hazard a guess that this probably will continue onwards until at least the end of the year, in my opinion.
