Has anyone here used Bootcamp to install Windows to play PC games on a Mac? I bought a brand new Imac last year and my gaming PC shit the bed (everything inside is fried) and I was going to use Bootcamp. Anyone used it for PC gaming?

Not ideal, but not impossible. What video card does it have? You'd need an iMac with a dedicated video card to run most modern games.

OK, that'll do. You'll be limited to 1080p in most games, but it'll play them. FYI.. here's some info on that card and how it stands up to some current games. Scroll down to the game benchmarks: https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Ra....318630.0.html

You'll want to download a Windows image file from here(64bit version): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

NOTE: If you visit the above link on a Windows PC, it will offer to download a Create Windows 10 installation media app, not the .iso file. Only when you visit the above link on a Mac computer will it give you the option to download the .iso directly. That can be confusing depending on what device you're using to read this.

Save the .iso to the iMac. Run Bootcamp Assistant from /Applications/Utilities. Partition your drive how you want. Be sure to provide enough disk space on the Windows partition to install your games. Once it asks for your Windows .iso file, select the one you downloaded from the Microsoft link. It will then install and boot to Windows. Once Windows OS is installed, it will automatically install device drivers for your hardware. Let that complete and don't turn it off until it asks to reboot.

I would recommend not installing any virus protection, and don't do any web browsing at all in Bootcamp. Keep the resources as trim as possible. Edit your startup items to the bare minimum. Kill autostarting apps like OneDrive.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I really only plan on playing GTA 5, Wreckfest and Friday The 13th. Thanks. I appreciate it.
