Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

NEW YORK, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Oil prices on Tuesday climbed to their highest since 2014 as possible supply disruption after attacks in the Mideast Gulf added to an already tight supply outlook.

There's a little self service Sinclair gas station on Pennway, just off Southwest Blvd in KC, not too far from Manny's and right before you can get onto I-35. Yesterday when I drove past it they had regular unleaded listed at $3.78/gallon and Diesel at over $4. Crazy. Only other time I've seen fuel that high was back in 1994 when I saw a gas station in Big Sur, CA listed at over $4 a gallon. And that was on the Pacific Coast Hwy 1 in the middle of freakin nowhere!

It was over a week ago but I paid 5.60 a gallon for 89 octane at a stop in Arizona. I spent $90.00 on a half tank of gas. As I drove east from there the price dropped the further I drove.

The SPR releases (ours was only 50 million barrels) did impact the price of crude (dropped about 10%), but it was temporary.
