FWIW. My best bud is a sheriff for a county out east and he is saying that coroners are putting Covid-19 as cause of death on many people, even if they don't test positive for it post mortem. He says he believes this is happening across the nation and it is ballooning up our numbers....

It was. We shut down because we were afraid there would be so many cases that hospitals would run out of beds, doctors, nurses, etc. and that would result in additional deaths.

It's mostly likely driven by reporting dates. Most of our data is delayed because hospitals and health departments don't report data instantly, so it can cause weird patterns that aren't actually there in reality.
