Mahomes said he's going with #4 or #7.

#4 is what he is leaning towards. I like it.

Favre-esque.

He even has Favre's accent.

Of course, he's also half black.

For all the vitriol towards Alex around here, the guy's never been anything other than the consummate professional.

He knows the score, and I certainly think given his history with Andy, Andy would have been frank and made him aware of the need to get his successor in line. Once again, Alex behaves like a professional and offers to contribute to the organization any way he can if they want his feedback on the potential for QB draft class.

The guy obviously had his ceiling from a raw tools and physical talent aspect, but you'd be hard pressed to find many that have exceeded his committed work ethic & remaining humbled in conducting himself professionally on and off the fields in his contributions to the team and the community.

Maybe people will lay off the hyperbolic trashing for a guy who actively helped id his own replacement & possibly the 1st homegrown franchise QB this team might have just picked in 3 and a 1/2 decades.

That's riding off into the sunset with grace. It takes tremendous character to relinquish the spotlight and put the team, the organization, and the fans before his own egotistical pride knowing he probably has at least 4 years left in him, and helping them decide to pull the trigger on Mahomes will give him at best only 2 more. All the while, he's going to be training and showing Pat the ropes to hasten his circumscription.

Good stuff, Sir Bluth.

Yeah, he's mature.. knows the end is near, and has been richly rewarded by the Chiefs. No doubt that he's cool with what's happening, and will be very welcoming/helpful to Pat.

2018 is gonna be really fun.

Fuck the naysayers and trufus-dufus dipshits; this move was LONG overdue and the Chiefs have picked the perfect kid to come in and blow this shit up.

I agree and I don't hate Alex Smith the person he just isn't going to be the QB to get us to the SB unfortunately. Wish he was but probably isn't going to happen.

With that being said, while Alex may 3-4 more years left physically he is basically 1 concussion away from retiring and he pretty much stated that last season.
