Always defer. Scoring last in the half and then opening the second half with a score is a powerful, powerful weapon.

And on the chance that you don’t score? They now get the ball in the second half.

If you get the ball in the second half and you’re down....it gives you a chance to get back into it. If you get the ball in the second half and you’re up...it gives you a chance to extend your lead.
