Just wondering........is this a play on the actual lyrics, or one of those times people think the lyrics are something they're not (as i'm pretty sure it's 'devices')?

(as a kid - and probably through teens/twentys - I thought ELO's "Evil Woman" was "He is a woman"!!!!)

His new wave meets electronica meets funk game was so groundbreaking, used to have this on vinyl and have NO idea whatever happened to it :-)

When my ex-wife was a kid, she used to think 'dirty deeds done dirt cheap' was 'dirty deeds and the congo chief' :-)

Had this album on vinyl as well, iirc it was sold to a former babysitter I had the hots for, for some paltry sum when I was around 14... guarantee that mfer is worth bank right now :-)

He didnt forget how to rock in his later years, either

I was living in the Twin Cities when Prince died, and they threw an impromptu block party outside First Ave, where Prince was discovered, and where he filmed parts of Purple Rain. It was pretty crazy:

The whole state went into mourning for a while - he was beloved there. Such an underrated guitarist, too...

Most megastars would've abandoned Minneapolis for LA or NY the first chance they got, sticking with his hometown roots is just another thing that made the guy so cool

He'd invite basically the whole city to Paisley Park for impromptu concerts... you didnt have to be some bigshot to hang with Prince, his house DJ at the end was some old local white guy my age

Its a long one, but just listen to this thing descend into some kind of hazy, beautiful orgy between humans and electronic instruments... Prince was sooo ahead of his time

Timmay fixed it

That 'Sign O the Times'-tour with Shelia E. on drums is mandatory viewing. At the height of his touring years, Prince had a flawless strategy of keeping your eyes occupied and candied throughout the WHOLE set.

Non-stop visual stimulation.
