Nzoner's Game Room>Supersong Tournament: Who should do the halftime act in Super Bowl 54?
Rain Man 04:27 PM 09-21-2018
Who should Mahomes and Hill and the gang listen to during halftime of their second consecutive Super Bowl? I think 53 is already committed to an act, so we'll go with 54.

Post your nominations here and we'll do a tournament to pick the ideal Super Bowl musical group.

The rules are:

1. It has to be a current act that is still actively touring. You must post a link to their tour or performing schedule for 2017 or later if you want them considered.

2. It must be a musical act, because let's face it, if someone proposed one of those Frisbee catching dogs it would win.

3. No more than three submissions per person, so choose wisely.

4. Keep in mind that this is a Super Bowl, and they're going to want high energy. If you propose Disturbed so they can sing "Sound of Silence", it may not do well in the tournament.

luv is on the tournament team for this one, and she and I will determine eligibility based on the rules above. All decisions are final.

I will begin the nominations with...

Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band - I know he's done it before, but he's Bruce. http://brucespringsteen.net/shows

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - She's a legtimate rocker who would be great in this venue. https://joanjett.com/tour/

I'll hold off on a third right now.

My first nominees have played sporting events before and they've also collaborated with Bruce Springstein so they could probably do something with him. They're big sports fans, but unfortunately they're from Boston so they probably like cheaters.

Dropkick Murphys with Bruce Springsteen:

Chance the Rapper - http://chanceraps.com/tour/
It would honestly be crazy if he didn't end up doing the SB within the next few years. Upbeat, accessible, while appealing to a much younger audience than the usual picks.

Leon Bridges - https://www.leonbridges.com/tour/
His newest album charted at #3 but he'll probably need a big hit single to be considered. He's a young guy with an old school vibe, which could maybe bridge the demographic gap that the SB struggles to appeal to.

Spoon - http://www.spoontheband.com/#live
Not famous enough, probably, but I've seen them live twice and they're great. Homer pick.

Chance the Rapper is a good suggestion.

Since you can't read so good, I'll nominate Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band properly.

This post violates 3 of the 4 rules. Impressive.
