Media Center>The hottest Guinevere?

Who you got?

Vanessa Redgrave - 1967 - Camelot

Cherie Lunghi - 1981 - Excalibur

Julia Ormond - 1995 - First Knight

Keira Knightley - 2004 - King Arthur

And no, I'm not including Tamsin Egerton - 2011 - Camelot because that would be very unfair to the rest of these ladies.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - how was it soooo baaaad?

I mean Guy Ritchie taking on King Arthur. Jude Law chewing the shit out of some scenery. But then for some reason you have no Merlin but some Merlin trainee wizard or something?

Charlie Hunnam was god-awful. Dude doesn't seem to have any idea what his accent is in real life at this point, let alone trying to maintain one throughout a movie. He did the classic "this accent sucks so I'm just gonna drop it" thing it seems. I don't think the movie filmed sequentially but it comes/goes so much that you can almost tell which scenes he likely filmed at the end because the accent just kinda vanishes.

But there was still enough talent in that movie that it shouldn't have been THAT bad. Holy hell was it...

Yeah, I was actually upset at how bad that movie turned out to be in spite of its badass cast and Guy Ritchie.

The scene where Charlie Arthur says "taking the piss" was cringe worthy. Like, Anakin and Padme rolling in the wheat bad. Guuuhh.

I actually watched a few clips on youtube the other day. I haven't seen it.

I'm actually going to watch it now because I like the story they created, even IF it totally shits on Arthurian legend.

The whole bit with the bad guy sacrificing his loved ones to fucking Moat Hags, to become a demon knight - I'm down for that. :-)

And the way the Sword in the Stone came to be? Incredible.

I also liked the incorporation of Nazi imagery into a Medieval setting. Creative.

It may end up being a guilty pleasure for me.

I fully expected a response from you that you loved it. It really is right in that wheelhouse of schlocky shit you seem to pepper throughout your pop culture references.

And I don't actively hate it, for some of the reasons you mentioned. But it had a chance to be genuinely good by doing a lot of those story elements well. And it just didn't.

So guilty pleasure is the best it can ever be and that's just a damn shame. And really, Hunnam is awful.

And again - how the hell do you not have Merlin? Or introduce Guinevere?

Excalibur is one of my top 10 movies of all time.

So I just looked this one up.

Holy hell - was this just some direct to Skinemax version? Are any of the women actually clothed at any time in this movie?

Note: This is not a complaint because this chick, Eva Green and the rando girl that gets her tits out all pull of naked incredibly well. But holy crap, turning an Arthurian Legend movie into basic softcore porn is...unexpected.

Apparently it was quite good - the IMDB rating is very high. It's just one season. I'll binge it.

But, yeah.

Ah, it's a series not a movie. Now the amount of boobs makes sense.

Because if they'd have managed to pack that into 90 minutes - wowza.

I mean she may not even be someone that truly drops your jaw, but that just seems like a ride one would HAVE to experience if the opportunity presented itself.

I watched it with my wife, it had enough story to keep her entertained and enough naked ladies to keep me entertained.

It’s... fine. The kid that plays Arthur is not good. But I will never ever turn down an opportunity to see Eva Green’s cans.

She was pretty jaw dropping in Casino Royale. In my book she’s up there with the all timers.

This is pretty much the single best review any movie or series could ever get.

"Yes your wife will watch it with you and you'll get to see lots of tits in the process..."

Fucking. Sold.

Very much a 'your mileage may vary' sort.

I think she's attractive but she's not someone that really blows my doors off. But like I said - she's just so different; no way she doesn't make at least a 10-deep hall pass list and maybe even 5. I mentioned Natascha McElhone above and I think she's FAR more beautiful than Green, but Green's gonna be on my list ahead of her for strictly novelty's sake.

That said, I can see how certain tastes would also put Green on a pedestal.

About 60% Excalibur, 20% Camelot (and NO SINGING!) and 20% First Knight. First two are good, but quite dated, and high on the cheese factor.

Make it like Game of Thrones and it would be a smash hit.

By the way, I never realized until this week just HOW MUCH Monty Python and the Holy Grail was a spoof of Excalibur and Camelot.

There's a lot of scenes they parodied. In fact, I'm pretty sure they parodied BOTH versions of Merlin with Tim the Enchanter and the Bridgekeeper. The singing thing just occurred to me today. :-)
A TV series would be perfect. The movies aren't long enough to fully capture the mythology.
