Nzoner's Game Room>What's up with Mecole Hardman?
carcosa 06:00 PM 10-19-2020
Pringle was getting all the snaps down the stretch. Is he in the doghouse? (I'm only partially asking because I started him in fantasy thinking he'd get some looks with Watkins out)

Seems like he's regressed a lot this season, unfortunately...

EVERY TEAM passed on DK Metcalf at least once, including the Seahawks themselves.

People need to get the fuck over it.

Mecole has had tons of opportunities to provide impact on offense when Watkins has been out and working in man coverage. He needs to show he’s not just a fast guy...because...so far that’s what he is. Hopefully, it’s a good thing he takes offense to legit criticism. Hopefully, it will push him to make strides in his areas of weakness.

His ball security is poor
He seemingly gives up on plays once his initial route doesn’t break open
He runs out of bounds instead of cutting up field way to much
He doesn’t attack the ball in the air
He doesn’t run crisp routes
He has trouble against physical corners in getting off the line.

This team needs a true #2 WR to keep everyone else where they are and hopefully they don’t pay Watkins to be that guy anymore.

Yea let’s cut a solid slot WR still learning the position on a rookie deal before year 3.

Nah. He's still a neat little gimmick for Reid.

and as I've stated before when your QB is running backward for most of the year because of a duct taped o-line the 3,4,5 WRs aren't going to put up big stats. I think it is a combination of Hardman not being a thorough student of the game and our o-line issues.

Plus he's under a rookie contract for 2 more years.

You don't just cut guys on rookie contracts.

There is no way KC doesn't have some of the dumbest sports fans.

You don't cut a WR still on his rookie deal unless he is total trash. He may not be what was hoped but he serves a need for the team.

The offensive line had issues because they had to play 2 Left Tackles, 4 Left Guards, 2 Centers, 4 Right Guards and 4 Right tackles.

Had the Chiefs starting offensive line been available for the entire 2020 season, they would have been 18-1 at worst.

Hardman was a raw prospect coming out of Georgia and the Chiefs expected to coach him up. He had a nice rookie season, with Pro Bowl honors as a returner and a nice rookie season as a receiver but his growth was stagnant in his second season, which isn't unusual.

Based on what, exactly?

In Mecole's defense, covid screwed everybody's offseason last year so maybe he still will develop into something greater than what he is currently.

He is not currently a #1 or #2 receiver, and that is a drag, but let's give the young man a chance to develop. Would still advocate prioritizing a WR in the draft, but don't see any benefit in denigrating Mecole excessively. He can be a valuable part of the offense for the next two years at least, even as the 4th option (Tyreek, Kelce, #2 WR, Mecole).

You think missing out on OTAs in the spring of 2020 resulted in him not turning his head to catch the ball or run out his route in February of 2021?

:-) May have been a contributing factor. He obviously needs coaching and practice.

Do you think there is no value and nothing to be learned in regular offseason sessions?

Is it worth even asking him? He rambles incoherently on basically every single one of his posts. He's like that old drunk homeless dude that thinks he knows everything and wants the world to know just how smart he is. He doesn't realize that he's not making any sort of point after 5 minutes of typing.

Tldr;
He's insane
