Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

Why not make it a 2 part movie? Hoping the 3 hour DC is the true movie.

Batman v Superman’ Originally Had A 4 Hour Cut

by*NATHANIEL BRAILon*APRIL 15, 2016

With Batman v Superman slowly making*800 million dollars at the Box Office, fans have been speculating if WB will release the Ultimate Cut with an extra 30 minutes of footage in theaters. There are numerous reasons to do it, one being that it would hopefully make the plot more coherent and quiet the complaints of many critics. But the logical and only reason they should do it is, If they release the Ultimate Cut in theaters, WB could very well get Batman v Superman’s total box office to a billion.

Fans of Batman v Superman are excited to find out which pieces of this Superhero puzzle were taken out of the film. But, they’ll be even more shocked to hear that the Ultimate Cut has only a portion of what was taken out. That’s right, in addition to the 3 hour ultimate cut there is an even longer 4 hour cut that may not even make it into the wild. While speaking to ProVideoCoalition, David Brenner an Editor on the film opened up about the 4 hour cut:

In the script, there were more story lines than you see in the movie today, for us, the trickiest section was the beginning of the film, until the point where Bruce Wayne tells Alfred the truth about what is on the ‘White Portugese’ ship… the truth about his plan, this moment set into motion everything until the end of the film, really. Until that point, the movie was always tracking many solo paths, some intersecting, some not. Finally, in this scene, the paths fork into one road. There are more subplots than you see in the movie right now. Also, in terms of building this beginning, we had to move things around. In the script, Lex was introduced much later, but we found that in watching the movie — because he’s such an important player — it was best to set him up sooner. It was a lot to juggle. So the plot lines of a couple characters had to go, that was once a nearly four hour cut with absolutely everything was ridiculous — ended up being about a three hour cut, once all these added storylines were refined with the fat was cut out, I remember being a little worried, Three and a half hours, okay, that’s fine for a movie of this size, the way Zack likes to work. This was more daunting. But we cut down ‘Man of Steel’ from about 3 and half hours, I knew we’d get this done.

What do you guys think about a 4 hour cut of Batman v Superman? Do you think it will ever be released or do you think 3 hours is long enough? Sound off in the comments section.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder,*Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*is in theaters now.

Just saw the movie tonight. Really enjoyed it although I don't know much about the whole comic book side of it all. Not sure why Lex is getting so much grief, I thought his part was pretty good. Thought Doomsday was bad ass. I barely remember watching Wonder Woman as a kid. I don't remember her being such a bad ass. She was willing to take on DOomsday herself. Was she always a bad ass like that? Or was her role in the movie closer to her comic book persona and not her TV one? Also how is it that she was around 0 years earlier and didn't age at all?

I guess that's from people who are really into the comics? I thought he played a good villain.

It was a different Lex from what Lex has always been in the movies. Not really the actors fault at all.

Lex wants power and money. To be the ruling overlord of us all. Releasing doomsday on the world without him being able to control the situation means he loses too. In no way in previous Lex's would that happened.

He was.

And why exactly was the Abomination from the 2nd Hulk movie in Supes vs. Batty anyway?

Doomsday looked like a grey Abomination...

Wow! We knew the drop from week one to week two was big, but it was even bigger than I'd read. This has been around for a bit, but I'd missed it until tonight:

While the strength of its repeat ticket purchases offered some hope that the movie’s overall sales would continue to be strong, it turns out now that the 60% drop prediction may have been a little off the mark – and not in the direction Warner Bros. would have liked.

Forbes is reporting that the movie has seen an 81% drop from the first Friday to its second, setting an all-time record for the biggest Friday-to-Friday drop for a major comic book movie.

I didn't like how everything Supes did in the final act was absolutely stupid. He reacted in a Hulk-like level.

I don't like Luthor being reduced to the insane ramblings of a Joker-like character.

Oddly enough the only thing I really liked was the tortured Bat-fleck who was tainted by years of crime fighting.

The one thing going in I was sure I would hate is the only thing I liked leaving...

Finally got around to seeing this yesterday, sooo many problems with it

How the hell does Supes always seem to know where Lois is and that shes in trouble?

How did Lex figure out, not only who Supes and Batman are, but who Supes mom is?

Why and how is Lex' blood able to recreate Zod as Doomsday? The writers just said **** you figure it out for yourself

Why all of the dream sequences for Batman, they dont move the story forward AT ALL

Who was the guy in red in that one dream screaming "ITS HER!"... was it Robin and why should I care?

Wonder Woman seemed to know exactly who Bruce Wayne is... HOW?

Clark Kent is constantly awol from work, why doesnt he get fired lol?

How did Supes know Batman would be chasing the truck of Kryptonite? and if he knew where Batman was at that exact time, how the hell didnt he know what was in the truck?

I could go on and on and ON... this thing was a freaking mess, a total mess, the writers just slapped shit together with absolutely no explanation for any of it

The only things I have no problems at all with are Affleck or Cavill, they're both fine actors who did their best with the turd of a script they were handed

One can only hope the next offerings are MUCH better
