Mine is paid for so no worries on that, but you should try Kansas property taxes on lol . Also the county I live in biggest employer is the county and school district. On top of that if you live here your in oil biz or cattle and oil screwed right now as is cattle market last I checked a couple weeks back

That sucks. Did he have underlying conditions at all? That's what worries about my parents. Mom and Step dad live here in KC, both smoke and Mom has a history with pneumonia. Dad and Step Mom live in Phoenix and Dad had double bypass a few years ago and she has had her gall bladder out and has bouts of pancreatitis. Not that any of us are models of perfect health but still...

Property tax, homeowner's and earthquake insurance are $17k per year right now for me and that amount grows every year.

We paid off our home when the new tax bill passed and writing off interest wasn't going to be of any benefit. I make sure to save each month for taxes and insurance.
