The season is upon us, even if spring is not.

2018 MLB Draft Picks
#18
#33 - Compensation (Eric Hosmer)
#34 - Compensation (Lorenzo Cain)
#40 (Competitive Balance Round A)

018 Draft Names to Watch

RHP Kumar Rocker, N Oconnee HS, Georgia.
Spoiler!

OF Jarred Kelenic, Waukasha West HS, WI
Spoiler!

1B Triston Casas, American Heritage HS (FL).
Spoiler!

RHP Carter Stewart, Eau de Gallie HS (Ga).
Spoiler!

ANY Any, Any (Any). Any current top projected pick who slides for injury concerns. Includes current top prospect prospect SP Brady Singer, U of Florida.

Current Prospects to Watch:

OF Seuly Matias - Huge tools. Hit 2 HR in Lexington (A) season opener.

1B Nick Pratto - Top pick in 17 has advanced approach and good glove; needs to start tapping into power in first full year in minors. Also at Lexington.

OF Michael Gigliotti - Good defender in CF, good OBP skills, plus baserunner. Next mainstay in CF for KC, IMO. Advanced college bat also starting at Lexington.

OF Khalil Lee - Probably has highest upside in Royals' system. Could hit 30 HR in majors, could steal 30 bases. Plus defensive ability in RF. Nice test at Wilmington this year.

3B Emmanuel Rivera - Really nice approach and good contact skills. Power is still developing. Also getting a good test at Wilmington.

SP Foster Griffin - Made nice strides in 2017. Needs to continue to progress in 2018. Could be a lefty version of Jakob Junis (good breaking ball that he can really manipulate, OK fastball, good command).

1B Samir Duenez - Duenez still is intriguing, hoping for a step forward in his power production this year at Northwest Arkansas, which would turn him into a legit prospect.

Others to keep an eye on:
SP Gerson Garabito (Wilmington), OF Marten Gasparini (Lexington), C MJ Melendez (Lexington), RP Tyler Zuber (lexington), RP Richard Lovelady (Omaha), SP Dan Tillo (Lexington), SS Nicky Lopez (NWA), SP Scott Blewett (NWA), OF Brewer Hicklen (Idaho Falls),

In general, Lexington and Wilmington are the most interesting spots to watch. Nice depth and a lot of interesting pieces at both.

Looks like Comcast mercy killed my MLB Extra Innings feed.

Blaine Boyer's a helluva bus driver in a pinch, but as a relief pitcher he always winds up in the ditch.

You should thank Comcast, they're doing you a favor.

It's now 11-3 Toronto lead . . . .

Yep, finally a well timed service failure.

Apparently only 2 of those Boyer runs were earned, so his ERA only goes to 25.20.

I hope Boyer will be gone when Karns is activated.

For that last game, our 5-9 lineup's individual batting averages looked like this:

5: .231
6: .190
7: .118
8: .173
9: .188

In the American League, this is in-fucking excusable. Not to mention this is your lineup WITHOUT everyday starter and arguably the worst hitting outfielder in baseball Alex Gordon. The 5 through 9 batters in our lineup are basically providing NL pitcher's bats for each at-bat. Not only are you not going to win games with this type of shit, you're not going to score runs period. Even if you replace Almonte with Soler, you're still getting steaming dog shit.

If you're going to give us remedial AA level baseball, at least do it like the 2005 Royals did it. Go all in and suck. Trade everything except Salvy and let him be our Mike Sweeney so you can at least sell a few Hyvee seats. I'm looking forward to ESPN highlights at Kauffman Stadium where somebody hits a 440 foot homerun off of one of our pitiful relievers and it cuts to an opposing fan chasing the ball from 7 rows up due to no other seats being occupied.

We made it through the 90’s and 2000’s with some of the worst baseball eyes have ever seen. 2014-2015 was the reward. I’m good for another 5-7.

Tank, get top 3 picks the next 3 years. Between that and our talent in the low minors now, we’ll be ready to roll come 2022.

Been a fan since 82 and a die hard since 87, so this will be a piece of cake.

I fully expect this team to contend ...

with the club's 19 game losing streak record.

The Royals added Scott Barlow to the roster for the double header ( 26th man ). They must now remove someone from the active roster. I hope they keep Barlow and get rid of Boyer. If they get rid of Boyer that would also open up a spot on the 40 man roster.

Here's an article from when the Royals signed Barlow;

I'd rather have Kurt Barlow than most of these guys.

I've never heard of half these guys, and the ones I do know are way past their prime.

Most of these guys never had a prime.

This guy here is dead.
