This team is going to need a top notch run game to make an AFC Championship under Alex Smith in 2017, along with a top notch defense. Now, if Mahomes becomes as good as many including myself think he could be, it's a whole new level for the Chiefs. The offense could become something it hasn't been in nearly 15 years.
I honestly dont see our guys being quite as dynamic as Atlantas duo

But what our guys lack in explosiveness, they should be be able to make up for with with a grinding, wear you down, kill the clock style... provided Ehingers return is the cure for what ailed us last year

What Alex Smith brings this year, I have no clue... tempted to expect the same old shit because thats how he has mostly played for his entire career

But maybe, just maybe, the writing on the wall spurs him to reach outside of himself and he tries to MAKE plays for once... 'good' Smiff can approach dynamic, we'll see

The pressure will either make him wilt, or make him show off

If he decides to grab his balls, we could have a great year

It's the same poor decisions that led to Alex INT's in the end zone to lose to TEN and TB. Alex was lucky that a rookie LB missed the pick on that play bc it absolutely should have been a turnover.
So now we blame Alex for taking a shot in the end zone. People will never be happy. Smitty could throw for 700 yards and 10 TDs in a game and people will still find something to bitch about

The difference is that he took one 10 yard shot into the endzone, and hit the defender square in the hands.

Mahomes took 3 shots at the endzone where no defender could have ever made a play, and in reality, all three were catchable

I don't think Escobar will make the team. It'll be Harris as the #2. He makes that catch last night

At least he made the effort, but I think Alex is going start forcing things trying to impress the boss and keep Patrick on the sidelines but he will try too hard at times. I think it's good he is stepping up but for how long can Alex not be Alex this year?

Alex needs early success and sustain that but he can't let up. First game against the Patriots is a tall order for any quarterback going to Foxboro.

Alex can be only the second QB to beat Brady at Foxboro the last 10 years. Who can name me the only QB who has beaten Brady at Foxboro in the last 10 years

Yeah I forgot about that. Although if we are including playoffs, I am pretty sure the jets beat them too.

That being said I just looked it up because I was interested.

Nov. 6, 2011, Giants 24, Patriots 20: The final meeting between the two teams, at Gillette Stadium, was a Super Bowl rematch and a Super Bowl preview all in one. And to top things off, the Patriots hadn't lost at home since Nov. 30, 2008, when they fell to the Steelers. The game was scoreless at halftime, and from there it was a back-and-forth affair. The Giants scored 10 points in the third quarter, but the Patriots put the next 13 points on the scoreboard. Mario Manningham gave the Giants the lead once again in the fourth quarter, on a 10-yard pass from Manning, but Brady answered back, with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski. Finally though, Jake Ballard became a folk hero, making a sensational end-zone catch to win the game, as the Giants once again upset the seemingly invincible Patriots.

Oh, I know that one.

That win cost the 49ers a super bowl trophy, because Justin Smith was never the same after the injury he suffered in the win over the Patriots.
