On the bright side guys this is one of KUs worst teams, Texas matchup is awful and it took us shitting down our legs to lose in OT to them at their place

That one's on Self. Probably shouldn't have been trying to play through McCormack for the entire 2nd half when he was getting manhandled by Sims all game.

He's just not good enough to score against Sims. And when he can't score, he's pretty useless against a team like that given his poor defense against the PnR.

Not his fault though the coach was stubbornly playing through him despite all evidence suggesting it wouldn't work.

Did you watch the game?

I was thinking the same thing. Sims is so good defensively and we kept playing in their hands. Stay away from Sims, if anything, when he is in the game.

Man this one really hurt. I thought we had it. If we don't beat Baylor on Saturday (which is very unlikely) this season is officially a disaster based on Kansas standards.

Did you? You play situationally depending on matchups. Everytime we drove at Sims or when Sims was on McCormack it was a disaster. He did make ONE bucket I can remember which was a tough one over Sims but that was it.

I watched Self continually trying to force feed McCormack against a guy he had no chance against instead of running an offense that might actually work.

And the issue isn't with the guy he was covering (Sims isn't a scorer). It's that their guards were exploiting his slow feet in the PnR regularly. This has been a common phenomenon this season, but lately he's been producing enough offense to make up for that. That wasn't the case yesterday.

Self should have gone small and forced Shaka to make a decision about whether to keep Sims in the game instead of directing all the offense at him.

Looks like we'll be a 4 seed and in with a shot to go deep in the tournament if the draw breaks our way. It's not a good year for this program, but I wouldn't say it's a disaster either. And while they're likely going to lose to Baylor on Saturday too, I feel loads better about their chances to make some kind of run than I did a month ago.

My biggest complain with Self from last night is that he had a 12+ minute look at the small lineup when DM picked up Foul 2...and we promptly went on something like a 23-4 run. Then he pretty much abandoned it in the 2nd half for the most part. Not sure why he didn't give it much chance once UT made it a game by the 10 minute mark.
