I have a feeling that they'll get another "fanboy surge" after the R rated version is released this summer.

They made a point to have Gladiator explain that Punisher aimed to not kill. Don't ask me how, but DD said something about how he was lucky to be alive and Gladiator said something about it being due to Punisher, not luck.
