We all have varying opinions about the impact of this, the numbers, etc. We will all never agree with each other. But we can all keep it civil.

Thanks!

Yes, although the color coding on the map doesn't help because it lumps anywhere from 1 to 415 cases into a single color code. Just to quickly draw an arbitrary line, I'd say anywhere with less than 150 cases per 100k AND population density less than 200 people per square mile. (of course this would have to be tuned, but it's just a shot in the dark here.) On your little map, that would cover a majority (not all, of course) of the plains from KC west to Cali. Obviously this would omit most of Arizona and chunks of Colorado, but it's just a shot in the dark. I really think the population density part would be more important than the total cases part.

The reason this bugs me so much is that the town in which my parents live was economically wrecked with tons of businesses closing up permanently, all for about 100 total CASES, 2 hospitalizations, and 2 total deaths in the entire county since this whole thing started (and about 250 total cases in the surrounding 6 counties).

I know I'm Monday morning quarterbacking, but man, this whole blanket treatment thing was just a bit overzealous.

So with the lockdown, you had that many cases, right? What is the rate of infection per 100,000 in that county?

1% - the county has right around 100,000 people. The neighboring counties have much fewer.

Yes, that was with the lockdown. Without the lockdown there may have been more cases, but it would have traded off the obvious economic destruction.

Sorry, how many cases per 100,000. The graphic I linked will show you.

Right, and since that didn't happen, we'll never know for certain what would have happened. I think we can agree that it would have been much worse.

I see it like a forest fire

It doesn't spread as quickly or burn as hot where there aren't as many trees

That's why I asked for the cases per 100,000 figure.

There are now at least 2,518 people currently hospitalized across Texas with COVID-19, the highest number the state has seen since the pandemic began. That number jumped up by about 200 more people from Monday's statewide report.

BleedingRed is going to run off now he wasn't here yesterday for his poke fun session when he said Texas was great...

Texas is starting to get spanked which isn't surprising they have some huge cities.
