Yup.

There's a reason the Phillies released a 26 year old 3B with legitimate big league pop.

Awful fielder and terrible plate approach.

So who'd be ideal in the 2021 draft? Rocker? Fabian?

This is the off-season/season repository thread. Covers both the offseason and season.

Unless his arm falls off, it’s Kumar Rocker.

Yikes

By my research, the Royals are the first team in MLB history to have more than 80 strikeouts and fewer than 20 walks at the 10-game mark. Note that I said 80 strikeouts. Royals have 94. That’s how amazing their SO/K numbers are this season.

Among teams in either group (fewer than 20 BB or more than 80 K), the Royals’ 5.88-to-1 K/BB ratio is easily the highest ever. Next highest is the 2013 Astros at 4.70-to-1.

By the way, that Astros team finished 51-111.

I wonder what this would look like in graph form with the top 10 highest K/BB ratios ever?

At that point we were on pace for 1523 Ks 259 BBs over a 162 game season.

259 walks for a full season would be absolutely horrendous. Going all the way back to 2000 the lowest amount of walks by a team 363. It's amazing how bad the Royals have been at taking walks. I think they were in the bottom 10 every year, most years they were bottom 5 and they took the least amount of walks several times.

That what happens when as an organization you don't value plate discipline.

Is that a Matheny deal? Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to the Cards other than occasional checks of the standings, so I don't know if he's regarded as someone who doesn't give a crap about plate discipline.

Well sure, we've never really drawn that many walks during the DM era, but nothing this bad.
