Media Center>Ed Harris takes Top villain role in HBOs "Westworld" reboot

Sweet. Loved this film when I was a kid. It's ripe for a reboot.

Doesn't sound like he's playing the Yul Brenner role though

Ed Harris is coming to series TV: The Abyss and Apollo 13 actor has signed on as the Big Bad in HBO’s Westworld reboot.
The four-time Oscar nominee’s character is called The Man in Black, and is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” He joins previously cast star — and fellow series television newcomer—Anthony Hopkins, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Shannon Woodward.

The Warner Bros.-produced sci-fi pilot produced by J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk updates Michael Crichton’s 1973 classic film about a theme park where androids fulfill dark human desires. Harris’ description might sound like he’s playing the Yul Brynner killer-cowboy robot role, but it seems like actor Rodrigo Santoro was tapped for that part—and online production rumors suggest The Man in Black is actually a human character who sadistically abuses the androids.

Harris will soon be seen the feature film Run All Night, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman. Harris won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Game Change.

Aaron Paul is this season's Bernard

I think that would be a lame twist unless it turns out that Dolores is Ford.

She's giving hints that he's being leashed at her whim like a host.

I think the writers are trying to establish a rationale for why human citizens wouldn't necessarily side against the hosts in the overall storyline.

It could very well be Ford or an abbreviated version of William because it doesn't make sense how Delores Prime is treating him with kid gloves knowing his backstory and "destiny " by heart.

When Caleb saw Delores he responded the same way young William did

BTW, I thought the cloned consciousness of Delores was lame. I thought what would happen if Delores had backed up her self-awareness and personality as a precaution in season 2

The writing in this show has fallen off a cliff compared to the previous two seasons. Aaron Paul is the best thing about the show now and it's like they can't figure out how to use him properly.

I'll stick with it but it's definitely not as good.

So they kind of wrote in some problems.

Is Stubbs dead? If so WTF happens when they figure out he’s a robot? If not why didn’t he go try to help Bernard?

S2 wasn't particularly good at all. Needlessly confusing with, as it turned out, no idea where it was going in the end.

S3 has been an improvement so far.

Well...now it looks like that drug, genre, made some repressed(?) memories pop up for Caleb. I wonder if Dolores knows what the dead guy knew about him? She obviously researched Caleb pretty deeply at some point.

I’ve really been enjoying season 3, but last night’s episode was a misstep.
