Its looking as if it's going to end up as the lowest grossing film in the 5 film DCU, domestically.

It's got a shot to get to #4 internationally, but I think they saw the writing on the wall with this.

It may be too late to retro some of the films already going, but they've got to do something. They can't rely on the hardcore fanboys forever. Eventually, even they will stop attending and celebrating shitty movies. [Reply]
I figured this would happen (as did my DC friends) and that the best version would be on DVD and there's even a massive online push behind the "Snyder Version"
I half feel bad for the actors, director, and definitely the fans knowing that there was perhaps a good flick in there but it was butchered by the studio/moguls to fit it in a specific window... [Reply]

Fans can't just force a studio that's lost a metric-fug-ton of money to change course.
I still expect a better product once the blue ray is released.
It doesn't exist. Synder wasn't finished with principle photography and the VFX weren't even at the sketching stage.
WB would have invest a minimum of $50-$75 million dollars in order to put together an entirely new version and they're not spending another dime, other than existing footage for extras on DVD/Blu Ray. [Reply]

I wish you were in this thread earlier when we were arguing studio economics.
This is hard to explain but while I'm not a DC fan I wanted this to do well. Disney just gobbling up properties willy-nilly is not a good thing.
DC/WB just rushed it. They've been rushing it and in this mode where they feel they have to catch up.
They don't. Just make good movies and we'll throw money at you... [Reply]
Down to $4.3m domestic this weekend, and at $219.6 domestic total.
It's got no shot of catching any of the other MCU movies domestically, as MOS is the next lowest at $291.6.
It's closer globally, trailing MOS by about $30m, but that may not be caught either, given that the movie only pulled in $5m foreign this past weekend, after bringing in $16m last weekend. [Reply]

Lucasfilm/Disney are doing their best to destroy the Star Wars brand, but they hasn't quite done it yet. They're probably only about 1-2 movies behind DC in that regard, though.
If they keep putting out utter shit, like 1,2,3,7 and (apparently) 8, they'll get there soon enough. Judging from the response to 8, the destruction is proceeding apace.
As for the DCU, Aquaman really needs to be a hit, so the new leadership had best take enough time to get it right. [Reply]
