The #Jets are, in fact, trying to trade RB Le'Veon Bell, as @MMehtaNYDN reported. He has roughly $6M guaranteed remaining in salary this year. Trade deadline is three weeks from today.
Our oline sucks but I say make it happen Veach! If CEH goes down we’re really thin! Plus I think Bell has more power then CEH and could help with our short yardage situation. [Reply]
The Kansas City Chiefs have $6,523,183.00 of cap space available.
According to the earlier stories posted, a team trading for Bell would need to pay him around $6,000,000.00. The NFL is not like MLB where trades can be made with deals with the trading teams paying part of the salary.
I don't think Chiefs would be able to make the trade and still have the money they would need to possibly sign other players that might be needed later in the season.
Chiefs really right now have to be considering possible moves for the offensive line. Andy Reid said that Martinas Rankin is not yet ready for coming off PUP and neither is Nick Allegretti ready to start. Daniel Kilgore has mainly played center and at 291 pounds, might be overpowered by stronger defensive linemen. On our practice squad we have Danny Isidora. Danny played for Miami Hurricanes and was drafted by Minnesota Vikings in 2017 in the 5th round. His combine measurables were, 6-3 3/8", 306 pounds, 5.03 in 40, 26 reps in bench press. He got traded to Miami Dolphins last year but was put on IR early in the season.
NFL free agents that might be considered for guard for Chiefs, Larry Warford (As others have mentioned, not sure if he is available to sign or not because of Opt-Out) and Josh Kline.
Bottom line...money wise it would be hard for the Chiefs to trade for Bell. [Reply]
