I think we can safely say this trade was an utter rape based on who the Cowboys have now. If they had 3 or 4 guys who were still better than Ward, it wouldn't be a rape at all. We still would have given them injury-in-waiting Ehinger, but the Cowboys probably would have just shrugged their shoulders and chalked it up to shitty injury luck.
Out of the CBs currently on their team at the time of Ward being in Cowboys training camp as a rookie, you've got Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis, and Anthony Brown. Regardless of what PFF says, it'd be pretty homerish to take Ward over Jones without a larger sample size.
But over Awuzie, Lewis, and Brown? It's.... kinda tough to say. At the very least, you'd think Ward has a good chance of sticking around on that team and contributing somehow, even if it is a contribution far down the depth chart. Again, Ward is getting opportunities to develop in KC that he wouldn't have had in Dallas (presumably) but right now... can't say I'd claim all three are clearly better than Ward.
So... yeah. Cowboys probably want that one back. Hardcore. [Reply]
