Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>Late-round/UDFA hard-running RB's?
Dante84 02:02 PM 03-05-2021
With Sherm gone, a (very) low-key need could be a powerful RB for those 3rd and 4th & 1's / goal-line plays.

I know D-Will did a decent job with this last year, and with CEH and the other D-Will coming back, maybe there's zero interest in adding a guy like this.

That said, I'm curious if there are any intriguing late-round or UDFA guys who fit this mold:

+Strong as shit
+Always falls forward
+Not slow
+Can catch when needed

Who should I look at?

Who are the DII studs out there? Maybe the backups at Clemson or Bama type places?

My personal favorite is Brenden Knox from Marshall.

Others would be
Ja-Maine Martin, RB, North Carolina A&T
Trey Ragas - UL Lafayette
Chris Evans - Michigan

Nate McCrary, Saginaw Valley State
JaQuan Hardy, Tiffin

I think McCrary has a better chance than Hardy.

Martin is a BALLER. I wouldn't consider him a power back though

I read it as a powerful runner so maybe I had it wrong. Marting reminds me of when Kareem Hunt came out, maybe with shades of Marshawn Lynch. Compact, powerful runner with balance.

I went to that school so I watch most of their games. You could literally make a highlight tape off any game he played in his last year, even against better competition. Yea he definitely runs through tackles.

I'm a big fan of Michigan RB Chris Evans in the 5th round.

He's very talented. Shifty in the open field, shows good contact balance, catches the ball well, and generally is dangerous in space.

He was great in 2018, missed 2019 because of an academic suspension, and never got back on track in 2020.

Ben Mason, FB/ST Michigan would be my favorite as a blocker for the Chiefs.

Looks like he's got the vision, speed, and hands....but at just 170 lbs. he's going to take a beating at the next level. UDFA, maybe? He's got that Phillip Lindsey feel and look to him, might end up being a steal for someone.

Pooka ran a 4.38 weighing 175 at his Pro Day today.

Unless he’s dumb as a rock, he’ll be drafted. Teams won’t pass on that speed.

#Chiefs are releasing RB Damien Willaims, who opted out of last season, per @HerbieTeope.

Sounds like we may be in the market for mid/late round RB now.
