Nzoner's Game Room>Bills get 10 penalties on one play and mystery call on Chief's = Offsetting.
scho63 05:22 AM 01-25-2021
I'm hoping at some point today the officiating crew or the NFL is going to let us know what the fuck was in their pea brains to have the Bills go off and take about 5 clear shots at the Chiefs and unless Okafor called the refs wife a dirty slutty cum bucket, I can't see how the hell that fiasco turned into Offsetting.

Did anyone get any clarification?

I know earlier Jones got away with a swing but that doesn't justify that farce after a 20 minute officials discussion.

What a farce.

After Allen threw the ball at his head. I'd take offense at that, too. Those should have offset, but not 3 on the Bills vs. 1 on the Chiefs. Just my take.

He did actually get flagged for that shit toward the end of the game for NOT getting it back to the line of scrimmage, though.

I mean, the refs were kinda spotty, but I think they did a decent job of letting them play. If anything, they cracked down on our man coverages when we blitzed by calling holds and DPIs on us but letting the Buffalo Oline hold the shit out of Jones and Okafor.

It WASNT a "late hit" by Okafor though - he was launching himself as the whistle blew, and ALLEN WAS STILL FIGHTING and not going down, not giving himself up. Okafor had every right in trying to get Allen down.

The flag on Okafor was for standing over Allen and taunting.

The refs listed them in order when they ran off the offenses :

Allen first, for throwing the ball at Okafor's head (ejectable offense)

Okafor's taunting, standing over Allen

#73's late hit on Okafor (understandable, he's protecting his QB)

#76 giving Okafor the business on the ground (ejectable offense)

Chris Jones is lucky he didn't get ejected a couple times, but it seems that officiating crew was either kind of incompetent or was just letting them play...

There's two problems with what happened. 1. Basically invited open season on retaliation. If the Chiefs get a penalty, the bills can have ten guys go to town on him. 2. This was lobsided. If they called a late hit on okafor, sure, offset. But by the refs measure, Allen instigated, okafor reacted, then the bills retaliated. That's two penalties vs one. I'm not outraged by the thing. I just think it's a weird rule that allows for open season on going after a taunter.

The offsetting thing is a little odd, but I can see why they wouldn't want them to stack. It would be a mess if a team got like 5 PFs and got backed up 75 yards or whatever.

I guess you could say it should be 15 to whatever team got more of them, but meh. It doesn't bother me much.

Okafor rather gently slung Allen to the ground. Replays did not include the audio so hard to know how long after the whistle blew it was. Allen had escaped many times and so it seems they let this action of Okafor’s go uncalled.

Allen throws the ball and hits Okafor in the helmet. Automatic personal foul.

Okafor takes umbrage and starts to stand over Allen presumably while jawing and. This lasts for about 0.75 sec before he gets blasted out of there. But his intention was clear, namely he was going to say “It hurt my feelings when you did that, Joshey “ or something to that effect. Clear intention but again, he did not get the chance.

Two clear personal fouls on the Bills blindside cheap shots.

Summary using a criminal analogy: Battery with a weapon(a football at 13psi unless it was Tom’s) + manslaughter + 1st degree murder = conspiracy to verbally Assault.

it is odd...but rule change definitely needed. I understand they're both 15 yards, but a flagrant personal foul should be weighed more heavily than a taunt. also, the 2 ejections would've made this fair. shocked they didn't eject at least 1 guy on that play...

I agree, there should have been another 15 added to the loss.

Even dumber however is that Josh Allen is allowed to fall back 15 fucking yards, and while diving out of bounds, allowed to half heartedly limp wrist the ball forward to avoid a loss because he technically hasn't landed yet. If defensive players aren't allowed to hit a quarterback when they're flying out of bounds, quarterbacks shouldn't be allowed to "attempt a throw" while flying out of bounds in order to avoid a loss. I don't care if his foot hasn't touched yet, there was no meaningful attempt at completing that fucking ball. He got away with it twice and it was horseshit both times.

That shit needs fixing.
Thought I read somewhere that pass shouldn't have been reviewed either since he was ruled out of bounds kindve like the down by contact

Probably another 15. Maybe vinovich was subtly hinting that the bills second act offset with a borderline roughing call. At the very least someone should have gotten tossed.

Hardly a punch, IMO. More of a push to the shoulder.

I think that was part of the reason it got chippy at the end, Feliciano was getting easily handled for most of the game.

My only beef with that exchange, is that whole thing was set off because Josh Allen threw the ball at Okafor. And I don't believe he was penalized.

Still a dumb move.

He has to be smarter than that.
