You said Mahomes would not be wasted by this organization, and I pointed to the fact that we have had HFA 3 times and have won 1 home playoff game out of the last 8 home playoff games, and that I felt we were going to waste Mahomes like the Packers wasted Rodgers, except we would not get one Super Bowl.

I offered actual evidence of how the Chiefs continue to blow playoff games, and I said how could you call a team that has blown HFA 3 times, and not been to a Super Bowl since 1969 better than a team that has won 2 Super Bowls since then.

Seriously, how? Then I pointed out all the perennial losers that have been to a Super Bowl since 1969 like the Colts, the Bucs, the Aints, and even an expansion team the Panthers have all been to a Super Bowl since 1969, and asked how you can justify saying that the Chiefs are ran better than those teams.

I'm sorry, but because you love the Chiefs isn't a reasonable argument to why they are better than teams that have been to, and been to and won, a Super Bowl since our last appearance in a Super Bowl.

You need a lot of luck to win a SB (think 2015 Broncos). The only team in the last 20 years that has transcended the typical ebb and flow of the NFL is the Patriots.
Having said that look at the Rams. They were in the same boat as us after last season - one and done home playoff loss. Sure they lucked out with the refs today but they got the players and coaches needed to field a defense that can get stops when needed. When has Sutton's D done that in crunch time? The OT Saints drive would have been a TD like clockwork against this Chiefs D.

We had HFA twice before Mahomes, and yes it was squandered.

But it was squandered because of QB play.

Alex Smith squandered five years of highly successful football teams.

If you don't think someone like Mahomes can take that same run of success to the highest of highs you ain't watched him spin a football.

But an expansion team has been to 2 Super Bowls since our last appearance. Laughingstocks like the Cardinals, the Colts, the Bucs, and the original Cleveland Browns (now called the Ravens) have all been to a Super Bowl since 1969.

I don't want to waste Mahomes, because he may be the only superstar QB this franchise will ever have, but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that the Chiefs are capable, as an organization, of identifying and eliminating roadblocks to getting to a Super Bowl, like poor coaching, bad drafting, poor free agent acquisitions, etc.

Am I feeling very negative because of the outcome of the game? Yes. Am I saying something that isn't true? No.

I just feel like in order to fix this defense with the craphole the last draft looks like, by the time it's good enough Mahomes is gonna be getting his buttload of money and then that's an issue.
