Media Center>Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8
keg in kc 02:23 PM 05-24-2017
About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

[SPOILERS] S08E03 Fight of the dragons - brightness UP, speed DOWN from r/gameofthrones

Yeah, I caught all that in the episode. It's fucking amazing. I really thought Viscerion might get Rheagal. That part of the battle was goddamned compelling. And people say Jon was worthless in the battle....

Not only that, but no one at Winterfell knew Melisandre was coming, which means the plan was apparently to send them out there with steel weapons.

Genius, that.

Even then, I'm not sure Martin will ever reveal much about them. For how much of an impact they've had on the overall story, they haven't shown up much in the books.

The only times I can remember them were the AGoT prologue, the Fist of the First Men, the two wights at Castle Black, letters telling of "dead things in the water and woods" by Eastwatch, and I vaguely recall a wight being mentioned in Varamyr Sixskins prologue.. any other encounters?
The prequel series is taking place during The Long Night (period) so it's possible we'll get much more supernatural history and explanation than we got during GoT. Martin is directly involved, as well.

They spent all that time building dragon glass weapons...and really they are only effective against like 8 of them. Why did the archers protecting Bran not have arrows made of it? They knew the NK was headed there. Why not them stationed in the trees?

Ah, ok. I hadn't heard about that.

what do you mean effective against 8 of them? The dragonglass killed the wights, NK raised freshly reanimated corpses that had fallen on the battlefield, not the wights that died from the glass.

We need some of THAT. Because THAT is what made GoT great.

I've read that there were will a scene more brutal, and shocking, than the Red Wedding in Season 8. Since that hasn't happened yet, it's coming, I'm sure.

It's overreaction overload where all the drama queens go to practice their craft so they can start making "Reaction" videos on YouTube and monetizing them for idiots who actually think spending their time watching someone else overreact to something instead of doing literally anything else. They're more fake than reality television, and nobody I've ever watched anything with reacts like that when they see it. They might put their hands in front of their face, wipe a tear or two from their eyes, or the occasional "Oh my god" or gasp, but people don't leave their jaw hanging on the floor when they watch this stuff in real time by themselves.

What if Ep. 4 ends with Dany flying Drogon to KL. Cersei makes all of these strategic battleplans next episode, and the ep ends with her face to face with Drogon.

The WW could have been a Mcguffin to bring the universe together. Cersei could be a red herring for the "final boss". If Dany in Ep. 5 demands the Starks to bend the knee - things are going to go to **** in a hurry.

It has been hashed out here in this thread but I’m 99% certain that DG/VS kills them. They showed the hound not killing them with the steel hammer but the VS/DG keeping them down north of the wall.

Then the VS/DG got them dead and when the NK raised them the only ones that got up were the human soldiers that died.

That could very well happen. Emilia Clarke has gone on record saying that the end of GoT really messed with her. Given that I've heard that the ending is bittersweet, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a blood bath to see who wins the iron throne and Jon (or Arya) kills Dany because she asks the Starts to bend the knee (which Sansa will NOT do).

Yep. The "second army" were the humans that had been killed that night (hence the shot of of the Mormont girl as a wight).
