I am not a big fan of current country music but my brother got me hooked on a band called Black Stone Cherry which walks the line between hard rock and Country. We saw them live a couple months back and they were amazing. I like their harder edge stuff over the country songs they have. I guess they are the sons of some of the members of the Kentucky HeadHunters but I don't remember them being anything like Black Stone Cherry.
Anywho I was looking for other Hard Country Rock bands in the same vein, I am not into the Country Rap stuff, just the full on hard rock that you don't hear from Rock radio anymore.
If you have acts to recommend let me know.
I have some Whiskey Meyers on order.
I like Chris Stapleton but he is on the line, I loved Jamey Johnson's the Guitar Song album but want harder rockers like this:
I'm a 60's rock and roller, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Blind Faith etc and in my opinion good music is good music, period it doesn't matter what genre' it is. if it's good its good. [Reply]

Anyone who listens to Bluegrass understands that the "pickers" literally ROCK their guitar, mandolin, banjo or bass. I have heard 80 year old guitar pickers play runs that most rock guitar "masters" would be proud of.
All brought to the hills of North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee by the Scots. :-) [Reply]

I'd heard Tyler Childers before but it hadn't really grabbed me. I watched this video the other day and it put me down the rabbit hole and now I'm on day 2 of a Tyler Childers bender.

Think rockabilly and Chuck Berry and Elvis. No reason country cant meld with metal.
Going through and giving out Rep when I found this post.
Have you guys seen "The Ronnie Wood Show"? I found it on some Music channel on our cable provider. I guess he has a radio show so they video him too and he has a guest on every week, they play pieces of different songs, talk about their influences and play along and tell stories. I have been hooked on it.
Plus he had Steve Cropper on a week or so back. I just saw Steve play when he came into town with Dave Mason. We have a great old theater in a small town way west of Chicago and they have these oldies acts come through and they all do a great job. Not the greatest concert I ever went to but I marked them off the list. Steve told some of the same stories and made others longer and told some different ones. He was the best of the guest on Ronnies show. [Reply]

We've played some festivals with Cornmeal, fun band. If you're from Chicago, maybe you've seen Steepwater Band? Fantastic group, great guys. Jeff Massey came down and played guitar on some tracks for our new album.
My best friend from the old neighborhood used to be married to Paul Jackson's cousin, so I've been seeing Blackberry Smoke since they were playing to 50 people at Knuckleheads. We've played some shows with them too, and I even got them on archive.org :
