Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

How high will it go and why is it going up so rapidly?
Refiners have slashed throughput. Not the glut of gasoline piled up as was the case a few months ago.

I would have thought that was done in NOV.

But, thinking that the powers that be think the economy is getting better. The problem, people are still not driving more. Traffic in the morning is very light. My wife will not be allowed back in the office until June, then she will prob only do two days a week. Most of the people I talk to do not want to go back to their offices.

Hopefully it levels at 2.50 or less. when this is all done.

This country runs a lot better when crude is at 60 - 70 dollars ,gas is still affordable and we aren’t losing jobs left and right.

Oils a global resource and only about 1/4 of it is used for operating consumer vehicles. The Saudis cut production last week so I'd imagine costs will go up.

Oils over 50 a barrel. Something's driving it up. Maybe just finally worked through the oversupply. It's good for our fracking industry, I guess :-)

I don't have a problem with gas at current prices. When it got so cheap, it was killing American oil production, which, in part, led to the rise in prices. At these prices, American oil drillers can make money, and we can afford it And I burn a lot of gas. I drive my personal vehicle for work. I'm a network tech that travels to Oklahoma City, Wichita KS, KCMO, St Louis, and Little Rock all the time. I drove about 65,000 miles last year, so I bought a lot of gas. But I found ways to reduce my costs. I bought a Corolla that gets almost 35mpg and use my Conoco app and CC to save 25 cents per gallon. Those 2 actions probably saved me more money than the average driver spends on gas last year.

I keep three one ton 4x4 running 6-7 days a week at low speed and lots of idle still burn some diesel fuel plus two - three tractors . I’d still prefer 70 dollar crude oil

Interesting. They must be worried about supply.

Well four large refineries in Texas were shut down due to the winter storm and suffered damages from the storm.
It's predicted that it will take weeks to get them back online
