Nzoner's Game Room>Sammy Watkins will officially be back
carcosa 03:39 AM 04-03-2020

The Chiefs have reached an agreement with Sammy Watkins on a new 1-year deal that will pay him a base of $9m for 2020 with an incentive package that can reach $16m, a source tells me.

The move creates $5m in cap space for the Chiefs to operate this offseason.

I think this is nice!

Take him and unleash him in the playoffs.

Yeah he had 3 things against him

1) the Chiefs could wait till June to cut him
2) Deep draft receiving class
3) Teams might not want any more salary until they know there is going to be a season.

Prior to this he was scheduled to be a 21 million cap hit (14 base + 7 prorated signing bonus)
I didn't realize he was still owed 7 on the bonus.

Right. He was never going to make out on the open market. He is a 550 yard 4 touchdown a year receiver. Those players dont make anywhere close to what he was originally slated to get. And if we are being totally honest with ourselves, those players dont make what we are going to give him either.

Way to go Sammy. Why would he want to go anywhere else? He's got a good gig in KC with a QB that throws to him in the clutch.

Sometimes I stand on my back deck and try to bean squirrels with chunks of wheat cereal ...

Other times, I find myself wondering if some Planeteers actually understand The Great Game at all.

These strange and incomprehensible Planeteers seem to base their opinion of a player on a particular stat line without taking into account any other aspect of the game.

Perhaps I'm an idealist, but I'd like to believe we are better than that.

Watkins balled out in the playoffs and the SUPER BOWL, Mr. FAX.

That is, in fact, the only state line we need.

Wanna talk about something fun......some serious speculation running rampant that if Clowney drops his asking price to 13-14 per the Chiefs may make a few moves and make a run after him.
