And here's our replacement for Clone Wars. Coming to Disney XD in fall 2014. Bridges the gap between Eps 3 and 4. Looks...very cool. Conceptually.
Bit more detail:

The series will mine material from the 19 years that follow Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and precede the Episode IV: A New Hope. In other words, using the life of the Skywalker twins as a measure, the series will be active in the story years that come after their separation as newborns and before their (unwitting) reunion on the prison level of the Death Star.
No word on whether the show will feature Darth Vader (who would be in the Empire’s power consolidation years and earning his reputation) or even pull in a character like Han Solo, the smuggler and cynic who becomes an unlikely freedom fighter when he opts to stand with his friends against cosmic odds. The title of the show is vaguely phrased in a way that any rebel — even a Boba Fett or Ahsoka Tano might qualify as a title character merely by walking an outsider’s path.
The series has three executive producers: Dave Filoni, the point man on The Clone Wars animated series that launched in 2008; screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg, who has a flair for tonal rewiring and energizing familiar brands with new edge (e.g.: X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes); and Greg Weisman, whose credits include well-regarded work on Young Justice and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

I watched the entire SWCE on Yahoo last weekend and the Rebels panel was awesome, especially Dave Filoni.
They showed a sequence in which they screened Thrawn's first episode for Timothy Zahn, who was very happy with the results.
It'll be interesting to read the new Thrawn book next year to see how the character fits in the new canon. [Reply]
Lucasfilm has started sending out more info on the Star Wars Rebels Season 3 premiere including title, description, and more. The Season 3 opener is entitled “Steps into Shadow” and will be one hour long. Check out the official description:
“Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet – a direct assault on the Empire.”
Star Wars Rebels returns Saturday, September 24th, 2016. [Reply]
That's pretty damn close to the Thrawn from the books based on the trailer. I know those books aren't canon but they are definitely drawing heavily from them. Thrawn was a great villain that could easily be written as the protagonist, like he was in "Outbound Flight". He is ruthless but also principled. [Reply]
Not a big surprise with the promotional stuff a while back that had Sabine with the darksaber but the death watch arc was among my favorites in the clone war run so I'm glad to see that storyline back. [Reply]
